Reel mowers provide a superior quality of cut to rotary mowers. Reel mowers give a scissor-like cut to the grass blade which is cleaner, softer and does not disturb the plants natural pattern of growth. A regular rotary mower slashes the grass which causes trauma to the grass blade as well as the roots of the plant. Lawns cut with a reel mower will have healthier, thicker and greener leaves.
The split blades are designed to throw cuttings into the middle of the grass catcher ensuring that it fills to its maximum capacity. The clippings are drawn towards the center of the reel and thrown into the middle of the catcher.

The rear roller is made from 0.12” steel tube with steel domes to reinforce the structure. The roller is then rubberized and vulcanized to provide additional strength and resilience. The rubberized rear roller provides grip when transporting the machine as well as when mowing on uneven or steeper lawns. The vulcanized rear roller is also very quiet when moving over concrete and other hard surfaces.

Rolux reel mowers are 95% assembled when they reach our buyers. You just need to assemble the handle of the machine which is three simple bolts and the logo plate. You can see a video of the assembly by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf8Zl6tUG5M&t=76s
Changing the cutting height is as simple as turning a single height adjustment knob to increase or decrease the height of cut (HOC). To increase the HOC, turn the mechanism clockwise, to lower the HOC, turn it anticlockwise.
This is highly dependent on individual preference. Most avid mowers will check the alignment before every mow. However, for the not so avid mower, it is recommended to check the adjustment when you notice that the machine is not cutting perfectly or when a certain point is being missed along the cutting reel.
This process is easy with the Rolux reel mower. Follow this link and watch from 42 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf8Zl6tUG5M&t=76s
The simple answer is no. Grass clippings contain high levels of nutrition that are good for soil condition as well as plant/grass/lawn growth. Keep in mind that leaving the clippings on the ground will contribute to the buildup of thatch over time and it is harder to stripe your lawn if you are not using your grass catcher.
Choosingthe blade count for your mower is an important consideration when selecting the correct mower for your requirements. There are a few factors that will impact your decision on the perfect solution for you.
The factors to consider are the following:
Mowing
Frequency:
The frequency of mowing is probably the biggest factor when making your decision on
which blade count is perfect for you.
As the blade count increases, the distance between each blade reduces. Taking this into consideration, a reel with less blades will be able to take off more grass and therefore you can afford a bigger gap between each mow.
Rolux recommends the following:
6 Blade
- Best option if you have limited time and you are only able to mow 1-2 times per week.
- This is the most lenient blade in terms of time.
9 Blade
- This is the option if you are mowing at least twice per week.
- The result from the 9 blade is better than from a 6 blade but you will have to mow more
frequently.
12 Blade
- With a 12 blade, you will have to mow every other day. If you miss a mow, you will likely need to perform a HOC reset.
- This is the least lenient blade option, but it will give the best results on your lawn.
Height of Cut (HoC):
The second consideration is the height of cut that you would like to achieve.
If you are looking at cutting your lawn higher than ¾ of an inch, then the 6 blade would be a perfect option. The 6 blade is a very versatile blade so you can run it at a high HoC but you will also get a great result at an extremely low HoC.
The 9 and 12 blade options give you the best result at a HoC of ½ an inch and below. This does need to be weighed against the frequency of cut to make sure that you have
the correct option.
Type of Grass:
Finally, the type of grass needs to be considered when making your decision on the blade count. All types of grass are generally compatible with all the different blade options. The only difference is Zoysia lawns. Zoysia has a very fine grass blade and a 6 blade is the best option for you.
It’s not at all! The Rolux reel mower is self-propelled and therefore takes no effort at all.
