The Past
In the early 1960’s engineer Dennis Loxton set himself the task of building a reel mower that would combine the best qualities of available mowers, into one machine.
In 1965 the first Professional™ reel mower was produced with other models following over the years. In 2015 the Professional™ brand was incorporated into Rolux™, and forces were combined to produce the ultimate mowing machines.
The result was a brand of reel mower which committed to meeting four critical qualities:
- It must cut perfectly and produce a classic striped lawn.
- It must be simple to use and simple to maintain.
- It must be a joy to use.
- It must be engineered to last for 50 years.
The Present
Panners Investments bought Rolux™ in July 2019, identifying that not only was Rolux a world class brand, but included world class products and staff alike. It was rather a tumultuous start with the rise of the COVID pandemic in early 2020, but once the pandemic had slowed, it was time to refocus on the growth of Rolux™ in Southern Africa as well as other parts of the world. It was time to give the business global wings.
The focus of Rolux™ has always been on providing the best quality machines as well as world leading customer support. Our belief is that products are relatively easy to make, but customer support is often an afterthought. We feel our focus on world class customer support is the biggest differentiator between Rolux, and every other outdoor power product brand.
Each and every product designed, made and sold by Rolux™ needs to pass our “SUBS” principles in order to get out into the market. These are:
- Simple – Products must be simple to operate and simple to service.
- Unique – They need to be different and perform tasks that other products cannot.
- Beautiful – They need to look great
- Strong – They need to last and last and last.
If a product is unable to meet any of the principles, it is not a Rolux product. This is true across our range.
The Future
Expansion into the Australian and United States market was the first step for Rolux into the future which includes a combination of product expansion, as well as market expansion. Our goal is to manufacture and supply the global market with the highest quality outdoor power products.
We have not yet scratched the surface, but every owner of a Rolux product has joined us on a voyage, and we cannot wait to see where it takes us.
